If you are a photographer who has branched out into wedding photography, you need to start thinking outside the box. Traditional wedding photos might be classic, but times have changed. They are getting pushed out by more creative and playful images.
Tips on Shooting Fun, Creative Photos
* Know the couple: The first step towards taking creative wedding photos is to understand the couple. Know their personalities, understand their likes and dislikes, and some of their quirks to make for a good picture. This means that photographers must spend time building rapport with the couple before the main event.
* Check what others have done: Wedding photography needs you to be open to learning. Do research on what some of the top photographers suggest and continuously keep checking wedding portfolios to find motivation. Borrow some concepts without necessarily blindly copying what others have done.
* Find the right venue: As a photographer, you should be ready to suggest to the couple some of the venues that you think will give top-notch photos. Add some colour and playful scenes during the shoot to make things interesting.
* Tell a story: Some of the best wedding photos are those that tell a story. Aim to capture the little details such as the bride and groom’s emotions and their friends’ reactions when the vows are exchanged, among other things.
If you want to have creative, fun wedding shoots, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Keep trying out different things and practising. Some of the concepts of creativity can also be added during post-production.
